25 Years of Studying Jewish History in our Winter Adult Education Semester
|
The Bar Kochba Revolt
Beginning January 20 – Runs for 6 Weeks
Rabbi Arthur Weiner
The Bar Kochba Revolt was a true turning point in the history of the Jewish people, and a third and final attempt to force the Romans out of the Land of Israel. Led by a charismatic and messianic figure, and joined by some of the greatest sages of the Mishna, the revolt began successfully and ended with a tragic defeat at Beitar. We will study the circumstances that led to this third attempt to free Israel from Roman oppression, the significant personalities that both led as well as opposed this revolt, and its implications for Jewish history.
We are proud to have reached 25 years of studying Jewish history together in our Winter Adult Education semester, and hope you will join us for this special anniversary class.
