Adult Education

“He who does not increase his knowledge, decreases it …” (Pirkei Avot, 1:13)

Education is an important part of our synagogue’s mission. The JCCP/CBT is proud of being able to offer most of our courses and events at little or no cost. Our active and knowledgeable Adult Education Committee sponsors numerous interesting and diverse courses and events during the year. Examples include:

  • Rabbi Arthur Weiner, Cantor Sam Weiss, and several of our talented members teach and facilitate our events and classes. Some of our regularly scheduled events include our popular Book Club which meets every other month, our annual Jewish Film Festival with discussions led by Cantor Weiss, and a variety of winter semester courses including a Jewish History class that Rabbi Weiner has been teaching since 1996.
  • Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, a lively discussion group led by our member Al Nahum, meets Monday afternoons at 1:30 pm.  Topics discussed include history, news, and many other items of interest to the group.
  • Israel Education and Engagement event which takes place in May. This annual event is sponsored by the family of the late Harold Lerman and features different notable speakers who lecture on topics important to the State of Israel.

Please join us and take one course or several. It’s a wonderful opportunity to expand your Jewish knowledge, meet new people, and become more active in Synagogue life.

For more information please read about current events in our monthly Bulletin, on our website, or please contact the JCCP/CBT office (201) 262-7691. You may also contact committee chairman Mark Topel at marktopel@verizon.net
