The next meeting of the JCCP Book Club will be held on Monday, August 9 at 7 PM. The book is "Shanghai Girls" by Lisa See. Our facilitator will be Belle Rosenbloom. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome. A novel about two sisters, two cultures, and the struggle to find a new life in America while bound to the old, "Shanghai Girls" is a fascinating adventure from bestselling author Lisa See, author of "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" and "Peony in Love".

In recognition of their distinguished service to the religious life of our synagogue, John Antebi and Ruth and Rubin Camins and will be the Honorees at our annual Pre-Selichot reception. The JCCP is an important part of their lives, a place where they are truly "at home". We hope that they will continue to be an active and vital part of our Center family for many years. Yasher Koach! Join us on this wonderful evening as we thank and acknowledge them for their years of exemplary service. Selichot Services will begin at 11:30 PM, following the reception. The Selichot service is the formal beginning of the High Holiday period. We gather late in the evening for a special series of penitential prayers that help us to prepare for this season of repentance. Rabbi Arthur D. Weiner and Cantor Sam Weiss will lead the service. Please plan to be with us for this important service.
